Victorian Iron Back
One of the most time consuming and challenging chair to reupholster, especially if the condition is poor. Not unheard of for these timeless classics to have been dropped, squeezed and left in the back of the shed ! Luckily, this chair presented just the usual challenges, and with an upgrade in design, no deep buttoning, as per the client's specification, and a very snazzy fabric by Arley House, it looked amazing when finished. The photo does not do it justice !
Parker Knoll Fireside Chair
A beautiful fireside chair, circa 1949, came to the studio in it's original fabric, of gold velvet - not exactly in keeping with the client's decor and taste. So after a lot of research and many samples later this fabulous Linwood fabric met the 'brief' ! As with a lot of Parker Knoll chairs, the build quality was excellent, and the springs were in perfect condition. The foam had to be replaced and the fabric treated to comply with current regulations, but what a gorgeous little chair it turned out to be !
